It has a stone portal dating from 1820, which belonged to a colonial house, and the building dates from 1948. It has a collection of objects from different pre-Hispanic cultures from the northern part of Chile, including diaguita pottery and an authentic Easter moai.
It is located on Cordovez street corner Cienfuegos.
Santiago-La Serena: Air and land routes. Leave La Serena on the road that leads through the Elqui Valley, to the east. The road passes through the towns of Vicuña (66 km from La Serena), and Rivadavia at kilometer 83. At this point, turn off onto a path to the right, until the end of the route, where Pisco Elqui is located, in the kilometer 103. The whole road is paved.
It has valuable archaeological collections of the pre-agricultural and agro-pottery cultures of Atacama and Coquimbo (Molle and Diaguitas). It also protects testimonies of rock manifestations located in the mining area of Los Pelambres, interior of Salamanca, Province of Choapa and includes a complete anthropological and historical library.
It is only closed on Monday (all day) and Sunday afternoon.
