The Salzburg Baroque Museum was a baroque art museum in the right old town of Salzburg. It had been in the south wing of the Orangery on Mirabellplatz since 1973, usually in the ensemble of Mirabell Gardens and Mirabell Palace. The Mozarteum and the Holy Trinity Church are clearly visible. The Baroque Museum was incorporated into the Salzburg Museum in September 2012. Former director Regina Kaltenbrunner became head of department in the Salzburg Museum. The Salzburg Museum does not have a designated exhibition space for the collection, but there are to be baroque exhibitions in the museum tour in the northern oratory of the cathedral.
s was the only museum in Europe and the international awareness that its focus on design belongs to. The collection of the Baroque Museum goes back to the Austrian art dealer Kurt Rossacher (1918–1988). It consists of oil paintings, clay and wood models and a collection of graphics. Traditionally there were quickly 350 objects. In 1970, as a foundation, they are politically owned. To the collected trust positions Germans, Italians, French, Dutch and Austrians. This is a Paul Troger, Franz Anton Maulbertsch, Martin Johann Schmidt, Matthäus Günther, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Peter Paul Rubens, Luca Giordano, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Ignaz Günther, Michael Zürn the Younger and Alessandro Algardi. In 2010 it was administered with the Austrian Museum Seal of Approval.
A series of concerts for political chamber music was given in the museum, which was organized by the Ö1 cultural and educational program of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation.
