El Morro de Arica is undoubtedly one of the greatest topographic attractions of this city. At 110 meters high, it is possible to access a panoramic view of the surroundings, and historical vestiges that recall the war episode that led the country in the 19th century, with a museum located at the top.

The rock that belongs to the Cordillera de la Costa, was the main fortress in the War of the Pacific, where Fort Ciudadela, Fort del Este, Fort Morro Gordo and the Morro Bajo Naval Base stand out.

It is possible to distinguish canyons, the bust of Colonel Pedro Lagos and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier.

Upon reaching the top is the Museum, built on the ruins of the old fortifications and a viewpoint from which you have a spectacular view of the port, the Alacrán peninsula and the city of Arica from above. Towards the north, the great curve of South America and the Peruvian territory can be seen with the naked eye.

A few meters away is a large statue of the Christ of Peace that lights up at night and can be seen from all over the city. El Morro is a good place to visit both during the day and at night when it also shows a spectacular view, and it is also safe because it has a permanent guard of soldiers from the Rancagua Regiment.
