There are no references to the name of Amaguaña to the time before the Incas. Since the arrival of the Incas, the site was known as Anan Chillo, with its Chief Don Amador Amaguaña.
The word Amaguaña can be considered from the origins, the first, which comes from two Quichua names, "ama": no and "huañuy": death, you will die; in such a way that it is equivalent to "you will not die."
The second comes from the Aymara amahuaña, which means love, will.
Territorial Location
It is located to the South-West of the Quito Canton.
Population: 25,000 inhabitants. 90% indigenous and 10% mestizo.

Date of civil foundation: May 29, 1861
Historical references
There are indications that they were small towns in which there were social differences, their agriculture was based on corn, their ceramics were very well worked having a great variety of decorative features. Production
The first looms of Chillo (Chillo-Gijón) were started in this parish. Currently the productive activities are: agricultural, worker and artisan. There are professionals who emigrate to the city to carry out their work.
Festive calendar
Carnival festivities, (February) have been celebrated for 47 years, a week before Ash Wednesday. Within the festivities there are cultural events such as vespers, fireworks, comparsas and the traditional parade of the fellowship.

Dance: El Pingullero, Los Danzantes, Los Rucos, Los Diablo Humas, representations of the daily life of Chillo's wife.
It is located to the South-West of the Quito Canton.
