In the century XVIII began the construction, but the property underwent several changes in the century. XIX.
It is a jurisdictional monument, late Gothic, symbol of the municipal autonomy. The base of the monument is composed of three octagonal steps of which the whole smooth shaft is octagonal being topped with cage also octagonal.
It is located in the center of the town of Chãs de Tavares.
It was classified with Property of Public Interest by Decree nº 95, of September 12, 1978.
