Jequetepeque, like San Pedro de Lloc, comes from the time that Pakatnamú subdued this region. In those days it was the largest in the valley. In the early years of the colony it was the head of a great curacato and San Pedro de Lloc was one of its annexes.
The curacato dates from 1572, when the reduction of the towns was carried out, the town bears the name of the Chief Jequetepeque.
The Jequetepeque River was formerly called NEC. In 1787 a carob tree bridge was built consisting of 13 eyes 66 yards long and 6 wide, 11 yards high; this bridge lasted until 1818 when a strong stream of water brought it down.
There were two branches of the river, the north side was called "Pañi" today it is called "Rayito", this one remained dry and the other arm is named as "Jequetepeque" with still water and that thanks to the spring of its waters makes agriculture is possible in the valley, also thanks to German technology the river is regulated by the "Gallito Ciego" Dam

Located approximately two kilometers from the town of Jequetepeque, on the way to the Boca del Río Spa. This huaca is pyramidal in shape visible from the Port of Pacasmayo. Main Square
A beautiful expression of beauty. In the center there is a beautiful carved stone pool with three levels, in the lower part there are characters that identify the work of this district, highlighting a lady who pours crystalline water into a jar, as if inviting the visitor to take the famous clearing, Incas liquor, the same one that is distributed by four pitchers that pour the liquid into a larger source, giving a sensation of harmony. It is one of the best sculptures in Peru. Work done by the sculptor Enrique Olivera in 2004.
