Located at the foot of the Villarrica volcano. With 170 square kilometers of surface and great depth, the lake is one of the main attractions of the destination.
Discovered in 1551 by the conqueror Pedro de Valdivia, the attraction has spectacular views thanks to its beaches, fields and mountains.
Among its relevant features is a rocky island - Aillaquillén - near Villarrica, also known as El Morro; and the Pucón peninsula, a few steps from the city center.
It has an urban center on the eastern tip that is Pucón and an urban center on the western tip that is Villarrica.
Pucará and Playa Linda are the most visited resorts by tourists, as they have transparent waters, ideal for relaxing and practicing various nautical disciplines.
It is a temperate water lake, suitable for water sports. In summer, fishing and sailing championships and other tourism-related activities are held. There is a wide range of camps and huts around the lake, especially on the road between Villarrica and Pucón.
